Meet the Team:

Joyce Crowder, Executive Director

Joyce Crowder-McBride, Executive Director

Joyce Crowder-McBride, Executive Director, began at Savannah Commons in 2011 in the marketing department, before being promoted to Executive Director in 2013. Prior to Savannah Commons she worked in Sales Management and hospitality including retail and restaurant management. Joyce holds a Bachelor’s in Business Management and is certified in CORE training for Assisted Living facilities.

Shonese Clark, Assistant Executive Director & Director of Human Resources

Shonese Clark, is Director of Human Resources, as well as the Assistant Executive Director.She is responsible for hiring, training and orientating new hires, as well payroll, benefits coordination, and continuing education for employees. As Assistant Executive Director, to which she was hired in July 2018, she aids with general operational duties, ongoing resident relations, and fulfilling duties as needed.  Shonese has over 10 years of experience, and previously worked in senior living as an assistant activities director, marketing assistant and resident care assistant. She hold a Bachelor’s in Healthcare Administration, a Graduate Certificate in Human Resources and Assisted Living Administration Certification.

Carissa Suggs, Director of Nursing

Carissa Suggs, Director of Nursing

Carissa Suggs, LPN, and Director of Health Services, began at Savannah Commons in 2011 as a charge nurse in assisted living, before being promoted to current position in 2013. She holds a Diploma in Practical Nursing with wound care certification, an Associate’s degree in Criminal Justice, and is a Certified Train the Trainer for Teepa Snow’s Positive Approach to Patient Centered Care.

Randy Carter, Director of Wellness

Randy Carter, Wellness/Activity Director, has over 15 years of wellness and exercise physiology experience. His background and dedication help bring a wellness lifestyle to residents and staff alike helping keep our residents “aging in place.” Randy is a certified Personal Trainer, certified Yoga Instructor and continues development and training to better serve the wellness needs of our aging community.

Jessica D. Schroyer, Director of Marketing

Jessica D. Schroyer, Director of Marketing

Jessica D. Schroyer is the Director of Marketing, and began in 2013 as Marketing Associate. She was promoted to Director later that year. She holds a Bachelor’s in Communications/Journalism, a certificate in Non-Profit Management, and has over 12 years of experience in public relations, marketing, and event planning, as well as sales and hospitality service.

Craig Matthews, Environmental Services Director

Craig Matthews, Environmental Services Director

Craig Matthews, Director of Environmental Services, has over 30 years of experience, many of which were in the Georgia Regional Hospital System. His background includes power plant operations, HVAC, general electrical, carpentry, plumbing, power generation, energy management systems and automotive repair.


Darrin K. Brown, Director of Resident Services

Darrin K. Brown, Director of Resident Services, has been with Savannah Commons since September 2016 when he began working in Transportation.  He has previously worked for Chatham County Government and has over 30 years of Administrative experience. An Air Force veteran,  Darrin holds certification in Government Management through the Carl Vinson Institute of the University of Georgia.  As Director of Resident Services, Darrin oversees our transportation, concierge and security departments and provides customer service to residents including transportation, guest relations and resident needs and requests.

Chef Debbie Reid

Chef Deborah Reid,  joined the Savannah Commons team after 10+ years at the Savannah International Trade and Convention Center. She was also the chef at the iconic 17Hundred90 Inn and Restaurant, where her fried green tomato sandwich remains on the menu today. She trained at the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York following her service in the United States Army, and has been featured in Bon Appetit Magazine, and locally at the Savannah Food and Wine Festival, March of Dimes Signature Chefs, America’s Second Harvest Chef’s Table, and Taste of Savannah.
